Review of the Neewer 7″ 4k HDMI Field Monitor.
I purchased this monitor to use with my Sony A6500 Mirrorless Camera. The display screen on the A6500 does not fold forward when you are sitting in front of the camera. This makes it impossible to see how the camera is framed or if it is in focus. So, an external, forward facing monitor is needed.
hey everybody Pete Tompkins here with skating bear studios and today I'm going to review the knee were some pronounced as newer 7 inch 4k HDMI external field monitor which I purchased to attach to my Sony a 6500 mirrorless camera so I could see myself when I'm doing YouTube videos I'm not gonna go over the boxing the boxing is pretty self-explanatory and it's got your traditional styrofoam and plastic internal packaging it's a nice sturdy feeling plastic mount er comes with a sunshade that I still don't know how to attach and I'll leave your HDMI and audio cables near traditional cables and such and is powered by either a DC 12 volt adapter or a 7.2 volt lithium-ion battery pack both which are sold separately there's a DC 12 volt input your HDMI your AV input headphone input OSD controller and USB upgrade port this is the quarter inch threaded hole to screw the hot shoe adapter into to attach it to a tripod or to the hot shoe of your camera and these are the different function buttons the menu button function buttons you've got mode menu f1 f2 you can program the buttons to do different things you've got your power button and then then they were logo very hot and sexy the instructional booklet is basically a 50,000 foot overview of how to turn it on and power it and things along those lines and accessories that go along with it if you want to find out how it works with your particular camera you're gonna have to either go online and find some instructional video like on youtube but this is just real real basic showing you what the buttons are how they work how to push them what they're what kind of power pack goes with it but it doesn't really show you how to operate the monitor these are some funny instructions like oh no I better not leave my monitor in the rain don't throw it in a fire I thought this guy was peeing on it but don't throw it in the fire oh no I better not – I better not put anything real heavy on my break it oh damn it I can't put in a tub of water what the hell's wrong with you people with me where I want to put that tub of water right now you're taking all the fun out of my knee were 7 inch 4k HDMI field monitor damn it I got the external monitor because the monitor that's built into the a 6500 can't be rotated to the front so you can't see yourself when you're sitting in front of the camera so I purchased it for specifically for when I'm making YouTube videos and they want to see if I'm in focus let's see what the camera is looking at once I'm in front of it but as you can see here this is pretty much as far as the built-in monitor will go on the camera so I've got this setup where I've got my sunny 6500 attached to the knee were 80 my seven-inch feel minor my field monitor and I'm using my Sony RMT DSLR to remote control to control the camera so I can zoom in and zoom out clean seen on that trust trying to get it all so now this is nice because I could do vlogs now with for YouTube with my Sony 865 hundred and one and not have to wonder if I'm exactly in a focus so here I am in focus it's do all the things I needed to do it's a nice well handy thing it's nice and clear monitor it's good color good crisp picture so it works well the drawback to all this is right now I'm using an e were 480 light LED light battery-operated no batteries just died on that after about an hour of use I've got sony a 6500 where the batteries dying about they die in 20 minutes of shooting video and I've got the knee where external monitor there's 4k HDMI field monitor with a battery in the back of that and that dies quickly – I don't the better life is on this right now actually the battery's doing pretty good on the monitor but everything else is dying fast I don't know if you can touch the screen I've been trying to touch the screen on the monitor see if I can do the the touch to focus but it looks like the camera yeah and the camera is readjusting to means auto focusing on me in video so I move close my handsome face moves back a little bit slow but it does it pretty good so this is what I needed it for and we'll see what happens you know I'll go over how to set this thing up yeah another video but for right now I've gotta set up on my camera was easier to install on the camera you just slide it on the hot shoe there's a hot shoe there's the hot shoe again after fits the hot shoe and the screws in the bottom the monitor works out really nicely
