Ms Khanna, Teacher at Our Lady of Preparatory School, in Berkshire talks about the positive experiences she and the children have had using the Think Write Interactive Whiteboard programme in school.
Hemispheres Think Write is an interactive, paper and technology based programme for teaching the handwriting in Early Years.
yes get you have really enjoyed the changes from using the paper version to the interactive software they find it so much more fun and engaging and there's more of a clear structure they know that they're going to look at the animals birds and talk about what it looks like and then we practice looking at the letters and let me enjoy playing lots of games on there and it just covers everything it covers you know reviewing last lesson and then you can really play games to apply the knowledge you can also use it to teach new knowledge and it's also really good to pursue music leading the race for example showing them to spot the mistakes and things like that which I struggle to do when we were teasing the paper version I think children's favorite game is definitely sorting and they really good at that because it gives them an opportunity to reason about why that letter belongs to a certain animal for example they know that the round that isn't that long strong to the pig because it's around letter or the letter B belongs to Terry the cow because it's a tall letter so definitely can hear them discussing that hum writes a lot more as opposed to possibly sitting there and doing the writing at the desk oh absolutely we make a lot of progress when we're doing the paper version as I said because it was a bit more passive they weren't as engaged with their writing and but now and get so excited about using the software and then they know that they can practice using because of practice using on the board they lose that knowledge and transfer it to on papers they can make more links with their learning so and I think definitely see they're now paying more attention to going up or down to the correct lines and they remember now more about they're going up to the cloud to stay on the grass and so I think because it's the more visual aspect and then I'm writing software it's made falling and when they're doing arm and I think that knowledge is actually applied not just in the hemorrhoids of essence I can see progress across all curriculum subjects which is really great I have used some other similar memorizing programs but nothing that uses interactive software as the first that I've used and I can definitely see huge difference in I'm more teaching a lot more our children are so much more focused engaged so I definitely recommend this stuff worked at the schools and any of my friends are teaching I think having animals makes such a difference I've met actual never used animals to associate others with letters before and and I think it really helps them separate different letters and know exactly how that letter is formed for example they know George the pig are the wrong letters and because of that they remember where to start the letters where to finish them and I think particularly for some children or in class they get their B's and DS mixed up and because they are in separate animal groups they now remember how to form them correctly and that's where I've seen the most progress there's a lot less reversal of letters because they can associate it with the animals which is great
