In this video I am going to talk about my first experiences with the AMD Radeon Pro WX7100, how it compares to the NVIDIA GTX 1080 and what a simple render looks like using the NVIDIA / Mental Ray combo vs the AMD/Radeon Prorender.

  1. Just got one. I was looking about both installation drivers, there is the enterprise and the adrenalin . what will be the best to use. I do not game I use it to work, just like you, rendering and 3d..

could you tell me what is the best settings to have and make the card give me the best performance?.

    thanks in advanced

  2. I know it's a bit stupid to ask this, but here's the thing ; I'm an amateur designer, so I'm considering this GPU for my build. But sometimes i play AAA games too in my spare time. So I wanna ask about how strong is this gpu for gaming? Or do i have to buy another gaming gpu and have them just only for gaming while having this workstation gpu dedicated to renders?
But having both wx7100 and 1080 seems a waste for me.

  3. Hello, thanks for your video. I have a question…I would like to upgrade to a full AMD workstation. Do you think that Vega frontier would perform as well than Radeon pro. My typical workflow is 3d modeling/ rendering and i would like to learn animation and VFX fluids simulations. My idea is to pair 2 AMD vega frontier to be able to create and to test what i'm doing with Unreal or to build with 1 Vega frontier (displays and usual workload) and 1 Radeon pro WX7100. (GPU based engines & simulations). Is it coherent? thank you. best regards.

  4. Thank you Mike, I use 2 wx7100's and crossfire them or turn on multi-gpu and they rock. I am one of your oldest fans 🙂 I been thru a lot but I'm back. good seeing you and happy how much your channel has grown 🙂

  5. Hey Mike… it might be quite off topic, but just wanted to share with you if you haven't seen it yet.

Fstorm render for 3Ds Max… has to be the most crazy realism render I've seen so far. :O Dunno wether it's fast or not though.

  6. VRay is the only Nvidia product that uses GPU acceleration but only in Real Time rendering i.e the RT Render Window. I have been looking for years to accelerate my render times using a GPU and mental ray together.

  7. A better comparison for rendering would be to use octane or vray for true gpu render comparisons. Another good comparison would be viewport 2.0 and loading a massive geometry scene, fluid and or dynamics and try to push the limits there. Thanks for your vids.
